No Nigerian artiste has made ₦500 million from music alone, some are laundering money - Portable declares

Controversial Nigerian street pop singer Portable has made the explosive claim that no artiste in the country can honestly say they have earned ₦500 million naira from music alone.

He accused several unnamed colleagues of using their profiles to launder money for drug dealers and cargo loaders.

In a video posted on social media, the Zazu crooner went further than mere speculation, daring any artiste who felt targeted by his comments to release their bank statements as proof that their wealth came from legitimate music income.

"There is no artiste in this country who can comfortably say he has 500 million naira in his account from music alone. No artiste can make such an amount from music alone," he said.

Portable alleged that the suspicious wealth displayed by some Nigerian entertainers had darker origins, naming drug dealers and loaders as the sources behind the funds flowing through certain accounts.

"Some of these artistes are into money laundering. The monies in their accounts are from loaders and drug dealers," he alleged.

He then issued a pointed challenge to anyone who wished to dispute his claims.

"If you deny, drop your bank statements. Let's see if the money comes from your music distributor or a promoter or rather a loader," he said.

The singer went even further by calling on Nigeria's anti-graft agency to investigate the financial dealings of entertainers in the industry.

"EFCC should do an investigation into the finances of many of these artistes. They are wasting money for people," he said.
