Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has revealed that she was pushed to publicly declare her support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the last presidential election after growing frustrated with online bullying over political preferences.

Akintola made the disclosure during an interview with Chude, criticising Nigerians for attacking people simply for holding different political views.

According to her, watching veteran actress Joke Silva face backlash over her support for Tinubu played a major role in her decision to speak out.

"I supported President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the last election because Nigerians annoyed me with their bullying," Akintola said.

She recalled that after witnessing the harassment directed at Silva, she decided to record her own video declaring her stance, despite anticipating criticism.

"They bullied Aunty Joke to the point that someone wrote something that was so inhumane. So, I made a video and said, 'I'm also supporting Tinubu, kill me, let me see if you can change my mind,'" she said.

Akintola went on to urge Nigerians to respect differing political opinions, insisting people should be free to make their own choices without facing attacks.

"Nigerians are annoying. Don't bully other people. We have our rights to differences of opinion. You don't like this man, cool, you have the right not to like him. You prefer this person, good for you. But don't bully others," she added.
