Nigerian politics is evil! - Davido fires

Afrobeats megastar Davido has publicly distanced himself from Nigerian politics describing it as 'evil.'

His comments followed a post-election commentary by the National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Dayo Israel.

In a widely circulated analysis reflecting on the Osun State governorship election, Israel identified Davido as a key defining figure who energized the opposition campaign through youth mobilization, digital reach, and cultural influence.

Questioning the APC's reliance on traditional political structures, Israel asked his party where their own youth figures were and urged introspection ahead of future elections.

However, responding directly to the post on X in a post on August 17, 2026, Davido rejected the narrative that he mobilised other public figures or was involved in the whole political campaign.

"I brought no one! No one defended me! I backed my family on my own!! You guys r ruthless n disgusting! Eeewwww! I have done my job! Nigerian politics is evil AND I DONT WANT TO BE A PART OF IT TILL GOD HELPS US!" he said.

However, Davido's post did not go down well with many social media users who pointed out his involvement in the Osun State elections.

This comes after his deep political involvement in Osun State elections due to his close family ties to the sitting Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, who is his uncle.

During the heated political contest in the state, the singer frequently utilized his massive global social media platform to mobilize voters, highlight electoral integrity, and push back against alleged irregularities during the voting and collation processes.

The singer's response underscores his frustration with the political landscape, maintaining that his involvement was strictly a personal effort to support his family rather than he being actively involved in it.
