My best birthday gift was watching Daddy Showkey perform – Burna Boy

Grammy Award-winning singer Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu better known as Burna Boy has shared his favorite birthday present.

The Afrobeats singer revealed that his favorite birthday memory was being escorted to a children's park as a youngster to see the great Nigerian musician Daddy Showkey perform.

Burna Boy made this revealtion during a recent interview with Apple Music's Ebro.

The self-acclaimed singer claimed that his sixth studio album, "Love Damini," which was released last year, 2022, around his birthday, was an imitation of that joyful birthday memory from his youth.

He said: “You got the ‘Love, Damini’ album, you see what’s in the record: I’m happy it is my birthday. I’m bringing you into that [happiness].

“My favourite birthday ever that I can remember in life, was when I got taken to a kids’ park as a child and I got to watch Daddy Showkey perform for the first time. So, I kind of wanted to recreate that [in my album].”
