The late singer Mohbad’s father, Mr. Aloba, has stirred fresh controversy after releasing a new video in which he made shocking claims about his son’s relationship with his widow, Wunmi (also known as Cynthia).

In the video, Mr. Aloba questioned the legitimacy of their marriage, insisting that he never witnessed or approved any traditional wedding.

According to him, he only attended an introduction ceremony, during which he met Wunmi’s family for the first time.

He stated:

“When my son was alive and Cynthia claimed to be pregnant, I felt it was necessary to visit her family. We completed the introduction, and I met my son’s father-in-law there. But later, I began hearing that a traditional wedding had taken place—without the presence or consent of the family head. Who collected the bride price?”

Mr. Aloba further alleged that Mohbad had once accused Wunmi of infidelity. According to him, the late artiste confided in his friend Myson, as well as his older sibling and mother, before sharing the information with him.

“He said he caught her with another man. That was why he cancelled the wedding plans,” Mohbad’s father claimed.

These alleged events, he explained, are part of the reasons he has continued to insist on a DNA test to verify the paternity of Mohbad’s son.

His statement comes on the heels of Wunmi filing a lawsuit to protect her late husband’s property and prevent unauthorized claims to his estate. Weeks earlier, she was also barred from using Mohbad’s family name publicly or privately until legal fatherhood is confirmed.

Legal representatives have also reiterated that Mohbad and Wunmi were never formally married under either statutory or customary law.
