The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has come under fire from Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw after the bank complied with the supreme court's directive on the use of old N500 and N1000 notes.

The (CBN) issued a statement hours afer President Muhammadu Buhari had stated that neither Emefiele nor Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami had been given instructions to disregard the supreme court's decision.

In the statement issued on Monday, March 13, the CBN spokesperson, Isa Abdulmumin, reaffirmed that the old notes will continue to be valid until December 31, 2023.

Prior to the federal government's and CBN's decision, the aftermath of the Naira crisis caused Nigerians immeasurable suffering, dissatisfaction, and in some extreme cases, fatalities.

Kate Henshaw reacted to the CBN's recent decision on her Twitter page by challenging the rationale behind the policy if it would be abandoned at the end of the day.

She wrote: "You brought untold hardship, got banks & their staff attacked, ignited protests with this cash confiscation policy of yours, then you turn around & do this??!!"

_AkNOwBODYL: "Everyone spoke about the policy. Tinubu thought he was being attacked, so he also spoke. Immediately he was "declared" the president-elect, he didn't speak about it again. This policy wasn't designed to work against him at all."

Iam_Adekunley: "But you all glorified this policy, even when Tinubu spoke against it, your fellow mobs said he was against it because he want to spen money to win the election so why the sudden U turn? So the thing don hit you strong abi? Rubbish people with double standards."

fomax112: "CBN governor Emefiele is the ringleader of corruption. He sabotaged the economy as revenge for his failed Presidential bid. The new Administration should prosecute him and send him to jail."

Medanoski: "I have said this countless times and I will keep saying it - lack of accountability is one of the main reasons this country remains the way it is. Imagine doing something like this and no one is made to pay for it. Our story is just too pathetic."
