Jerry Williams breaks silence over AGN’s alleged ‘drug abuse’ suspension

Actor Jerry Williams has finally addressed the reports trailing his suspension by AGN over drug abuse

In June, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), in a statement, confirmed the indefinite suspension of Williams over alleged drug usage.

According to a statement by AGN’s National President, Mr Emeka Rollas, MON, the body had been monitoring Jerry’s involvement in illicit substances since last December, until it got out of hand.

It said the actor couldn’t be allowed to associate with other performers on set to avoid endangering their lives.

He was therefore ‘suspended indefinitely until he got a clean bill of health from a medical practitioner or a professional that handles drug abuse’.

Addressing the issue during an Instagram Live session, the film star refuted claims of his involvement in illicit substances.

He tagged the narrative as ‘hungry gossips’, stating it was expedient for him to put an end to it, thus the online stream.

The talented actor also appreciated his family, friends, colleagues as well as those who’ve supported his brand, reiterating he’s the pride of Africa.

He said: “They keep referring to their generations as going mad, going to rehab; their generation not me.

“Jerry Williams remains the pride of Africa. No man contest, no level; God dey! So let them keep talking.

“I just say let me put an end to all these plenty hungry gossips and the rest of them. It’s just a matter of time.
