Nigerian Catholic priest Fr. Kelvin Ugwu has voiced his dismay at the viral video showing women attending a prayer test for husbands while wearing bridal gowns.

Recall that it was recently reported that several Nigerian women had sparked internet debate after showing up in bridal gowns to a faith-testing prayer service.

Nollywood actress Chacha Eke, who was the guest lecturer at the prayer service and had attended with her husband, Austin Faani.

All the women could be seen in the Instagram video praying hard for their husbands while dressed in bridal robes.

As many people questioned whether the characters of the women were also tested, the video received a variety of responses.

The clergyman responded to it on his Facebook page, denouncing the behavior and asking why men weren't required to wear wedding suites and offer prayers for their wives.

He criticized such practices in churches, saying they weren't Christlike and were repulsive.

The Catholic priest made the point that those who want to earn a Ph.D. but have not yet started college can still practice their faith by donning graduation attire and holding prayer sessions.

The cleric went on to say that it is becoming more common to act in this way and that the more we remain silent, the more it will be accepted as the standard.
