Nollywood star and filmmaker Funke Akindele has expressed deep sorrow over the recent attack by suspected bandits on a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Kwara State.

The disturbing incident, which occurred on Tuesday evening, November 18, was captured in a live-streamed video that quickly spread across social media.

The footage showed worshippers fleeing for their lives as armed men invaded the church mid-service.

The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the attack, stating that at least two people were killed and another was injured during the assault in Eruku, a border community in the Ekiti Local Government Area.

Reacting to the viral video, Funke Akindele said the scene left her heartbroken. She noted that one moment in particular — an elderly woman struggling to run for safety- brought her to tears.

She wrote on X: “Woke up to see a live-stream video of people being attacked inside a church in Kwara. This is sad and disturbing. I wept seeing that old woman who couldn’t walk well running for safety.”

Her reaction mirrors the outrage and grief expressed by many Nigerians as conversations continue around rising insecurity and attacks on places of worship.
