Nigerian skit creator Stephanie Naya Isuma widely known as Calabar Chic has described how her mother once prevented her from attempting suicide.
In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the skitmaker claimed that she had difficulties as a young child.
Calabar Chic stated that as a young child, she was a bitter, furious youngster who once skipped school after hurting someone.
According to her she once tried to commit suicide, but her mother intervened when she accidentally entered the room.
She said: “I was dealing with a lot as a child. I stopped school because I fought and stabbed someone.
“I was a very angry child, angry to the point that I hated myself one time, and my mum walked in."
Calabar Chic recently disclosed that she was raped at age 14 while returning from church.
She asserted that the incident had a negative impact on her spirituality and caused her to quit going to church for 17 years.
She added: “Growing up as a 14-year-old, I was sexually assaulted, brutalised, beaten and the guy had his way with me. I was just a teenager and I was returning from church the evening this happened.
“My relationship with God just went down and I did not attend church for seventeen years.”
