'I’m the leader of Afrobeats worldwide' – Davido brags

Nigerian superstar David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, has declared himself the global leader of the Afrobeats genre.

The DMW boss interrupted the interviewer in a recent interview with Billboard's Nadine Graham after the reporter referred to him as the leader of Afrobeats in the United States and stated that he is dominating "everywhere."

As the pioneer of Afrobeats worldwide, Davido declared that he wants listeners to anticipate "Just good music." He added that it's also absurd because his music has been heard by people in jail.

Davido revealed that he is currently working on two albums, one of which is intended for the African audience and the other for the American one.

He also disclosed that "2 AM," his favourite joint project with Casanova and Tory Lanez, is his favourite because it successfully combines American, Canadian, and Nigerian cultures.

Recall that Grammy award-winning singer Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, better known by his stage name Wizkid, recently declared that he is not and should not be considered an Afrobeats artist.

Wizkid claims that despite being African and producing a variety of songs, he does not want to be classified as an Afrobeats performer.

He claimed that although he creates a variety of music through the merging of sounds, Fela is the one who invented Afrobeat.
