Nigerian rapper Oladipupo Oladimeji aka Oladips has opened up on one of the reasons he left his former record label, EDGE Records owned by rapper Reminisce.

The rapper, who was recently rumoured dead, explained some of his challenges as a young musician in the music industry.

The self-acclaimed ‘Omo Iya Aje’ revealed how he had no food to eat at home at a time when his song ‘Lalakukulala’ was one of the biggest hits in Nigeria.

The singer accused his former label of nonchalant attitude towards his brand which eventually caused his departure.

I had a song as big as Lalakukulala, I dey hungry for house,” said Oladips. “I didn’t get any advance payment when signing the record deal. I had one of the biggest songs in Nigeria and I no dey go anywhere (shows) I dey house. When I signed the contract I was just an upcoming but I had a lawyer who saw through the contract. What I was all about was the platform because it was Reminisce. I already had a loyal fanbase and I said no matter how bad the contract is I would have blown up in six months.”
