'I auditioned for 5 years before winning BBNaija' - Phyna reveals

Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) season 7 winner, Phyna has disclosed that she auditioned for five years before getting a chance to be part of the reality show and to eventually become the winner of the 'Level Up' edition.

She made this known in an interview with MyNigeria's Novieku Babatunde on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.

According to Phyna, she has always wanted to be famous, and she realized that BBNaija was one of the ways to achieve that dream. Immediately she heard that auditioning was free, she took the chance five years ago.

She said: "Initially, before knowing about Big Brother, I knew I wanted to be famous. I was already obsessed with being a celebrity, and as an actress. I was already obsessed with that. I have struggled, I did auditions, I did a lot of things.

"So I now found out about Big Brother and I'm like okay... because I see people go to Big Brother, they just come out and they just blow. Is it free, they said it's free and I was like okay now. I started auditioning when I was 20.

"After joining a long queue in Benin, it got to my turn and they asked how old I am and I said 20. They said they were sorry because I was too young. I went, I came again for 21, 22, 23 and 24. I was auditioning back to back"
