The University of Ibadan graduate, Seyifunmi, whose German degree and swift job offer from a German institute went viral in January, has announced that she is no longer affiliated with the institution.
The fresh UI graduate, known on X as @Seyi_Funmiiiii, secured a teaching role at The German Language School hours after sharing pictures of herself holding a copy of her project, a development that sparked widespread conversations online about language studies, putting yourself out there, and employability.
However, in a statement shared on her X page today, February 10, Seyifunmi clarified that she has withdrawn from the role, citing concerns about quality, coordination, and alignment with her personal standards.
According to her, before agreeing to work with the institute, she had personally attended their classes, reviewed their online presence, and assessed their structure, which informed her decision to collaborate and publicly invite her audience to a free trial class.
She explained that she was actively involved in onboarding participants, handling communications, sending reminders, and ensuring attendance. However, she noted that the actual trial sessions did not meet the expectations she had formed or felt comfortable recommending to her audience.
“This led to a loss of trust and credibility with my audience, which I take seriously,” she stated, adding that she chose to withdraw fully rather than continue endorsing something that did not align with her standards.
Seyifunmi also disclosed that she communicated her decision privately to the school and transparently to those she had onboarded, stressing that she harbours no ill will towards the institute.
“I wish them well going forward, but I am no longer involved in any capacity,” she concluded.
As of the time of filing this report, the German Language School has not issued a public response regarding the development.
I am no longer affiliated with The German Language School.
