Irish chef and restaurant owner based in Japan, Alan Fisher has broken the Guinness World Record for 'Longest Cooking Marathon' previously held by Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci.

He cooked for a total of 119 hours and 57 minutes, which was more than 24 hours longer Hilda Baci's record.

In an interview with guinnessworldrecords.com, Alan stated that he was inspired by Hilda Baci and the record holder before her, Lata Tondon.

According to Alan, his cooking business has been very challenging, especially after COVID. He lost so much money, and had to take loans to make the business thrive.

He said: "I was broke and heartbroken. To have worked so hard for so long, to give up your own savings, your own salary and then still need a loan simply to stay in business with no guarantee things will recover. That was a tough pill to swallow.

"Lata and Hilda's achievements served as an inspiration."

He later attempted to break the Guinness World Record, and he succeeded.
