'Her character attracted me' - Man finds love after being rejected by women due to his height

A Cameroonian man has finally found love after years of rejection due to his height.

The man who is identified simply as Kwoyela Derick met his wife-to-be Kahboh Patience in January 2022 and they kicked off the relationship.

39-year-old Derrick who is a teacher said in an interview that he is madly in love with his 28-year-old girlfriend.

He told MMI that he wants her to be the mother of his children.

“Her character attracted me. She is perfect because she gives me maximum respect and she is God-fearing too,” he said.

He noted that their community do not tolerate persons with height defects like him as they mostly do not associate with him not to talk of marrying him.

According to him, Patience has received several negative comments from naysayers, including her friends, for her decision to marry him.

“One of our biggest obstacles was when we were planning to get married. Her friends and some people close to her were complaining and asking why she is getting married to short man like me,” Derick said.

Despite the criticisms and stereotyping, the couple have weathered all the storms together and are planning to get married.

“I have promised to take good care of my wife. I want our story to be an inspiration to everyone, including those who have lost hope in love. There is a chance and someone special for us all,” he said.

Their traditional wedding has been slated for April 6, 2023, in Bali Nyonga, while the white wedding ceremony has been fixed on April 8 in Bamenda.

On her part, Patience who is a seamstress by profession said she is ready to stand by her man ‘for better and for worst.’
