Nollywood actor Laide Olabanji has called on Nigerians to give Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi a chance to lead the country.

Olabanji made the appeal in a caption accompanying a post on his Instagram page, where he criticised supporters of the current administration who, according to him, want the government to return to power despite the hardship Nigerians are facing.

"You've not had light since and you can't even afford to buy fuel and yet you want the current government to come back," he wrote.

He argued that a government responsible for damaging the country could just as easily be replaced by one capable of rebuilding it.

"If a government can destroy it, another government is ready to rebuild it," Olabanji said.

The actor also drew a historical comparison, referencing the administrations of Shehu Shagari and Muhammadu Buhari through Ibrahim Babangida's military government, claiming Shagari "destroyed everything," while Tunde Idiagbon helped make Nigeria "great again" within four months.

Olabanji concluded his message with a direct appeal to Nigerians.

"Let's give Peter Obi a chance to make the country great again," he wrote.
