'Finding the right partner is more crucial than just getting married' - Yemi Alade

Award-winning Nigerian singer Yemi Alade has shared some important marriage advice as she opens up about the pressure she felt from her friends and family to get married.

In an interview with Cool FM, the songstress refuted rumours that she had wed her manager, declaring that she was unmarried.

Yemi Alade stated that she has seen how others tie the knot, especially toward the end of the year, but since she believes in the right time, she's not obligated to do it.

Yemi Alade claimed that when family pressure originates from people she respects and admires, it is challenging to resist.

However, she added that if they really love her, she thinks they'll wait since finding the right man is more important than getting married.

In general, she thinks that no one should rush into choosing the wrong partner.

She said: “People often get married, especially towards the end of every year. I’m not feeling pressured. When the time is right, it will happen.”⁣

“Family pressure is a challenging thing to resist because it’s coming from the people I respect and look up to, insisting that I should get married.⁣

“However, I believe that if they genuinely have my best interests at heart, they will be patient with me because finding the right partner is more crucial than just getting married.⁣

“But beyond that, I don’t think anyone should rush into making the wrong decision of being with the wrong partner”.
