Popular Nigerian actor Deyemi Okanlawon has revealed how his lack of social media followers impacted his career growth in the movie industry.

During a conversation on the Echoo Room Podcast, renowned Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon discussed the obstacles he encountered early in his career due to his limited social media following.

Deyemi, known for his roles in popular films and series such as "The Wedding Party" and "King of Boys," discussed how producers often overlooked his talent because of his modest online presence.

He expressed frustration at being judged based on follower count rather than his acting skills, saying, “Not having Instagram followers hindered me. I would tell myself, ‘I’m the guy who comes to kill himself on set. Why am I being judged by the number of followers I have?

“I said to myself, there is no point fighting it. There’s always going to be a new set of people who focus more on the brand than the craft. So I said let me start some brand-building.”
