'Demons on assignment' – Pastor Chris Okafor reacts to allegations and 'spiritual attacks'

Senior Pastor Chris Okafor has broken his silence following a viral scandal involving social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM), who recently released audio recordings featuring a woman claiming to be the pastor’s daughter. The recordings contained “heavy accusations” against the cleric, sparking a firestorm of online debate.

During a recent church service, Okafor refrained from addressing the specific details of the audio but instead categorized the controversy as a calculated spiritual war against the clergy.

Okafor warned his congregation that criticisms of religious leaders are rarely just personal; he argued they are designed to dismantle the spiritual support system of the members themselves.

“When you see a person attacking a man of God, that person is not just a human being, that person is a demon on assignment. When you strike the shepherd, the sheep will scatter. It is not just about the shepherd. It is also about the people that the shepherd carries,” Okafor stated.

The cleric maintained that “genuinely innocent” pastors act as conduits for blessings, and attacking them effectively cuts off the help intended for the church members.

“Every time you see a man of God who is genuinely innocent and they’re persecuting, it’s not just an attack on him, it’s an attack on you [church members]. Number one, it is your blessing that is being attacked. Number two, it says the prophet is in their midst to help them. It is your help they are attacking….”

The controversy intensified after VeryDarkMan shared audio clips where the alleged daughter discussed personal grievances and family dynamics. While some netizens have called for a formal response to the specific claims, Pastor Okafor’s “demon on assignment” stance suggests he views the matter as a trial of faith rather than a civil dispute.
