Afrobeats star Davido has sparked reactions after announcing his public plea to U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump regarding the Osun State governorship election have prompted international diplomatic attention.

The drama unfolded after the multi-award-winning singer called on foreign figures to monitor the electoral process in Osun State, leading online commentators to question why he was tagging U.S. political figures rather than relying solely on Nigerian domestic authorities.

Responding directly to critics questioning his right to address American politicians, Davido cited his American birth and dual citizenship status.

"So I can’t tweet my president again?" he questioned in response to a user, adding in a follow-up post: "He’s my president too, I get dual citizenship... any problem?"

As critics continued to challenge his move, the musician claimed that his public appeal had successfully gained international traction, alleging that diplomatic channels were making contact.
