Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, Davido, recently reminisced about how he spent the money from his first major endorsement deal.
Taking to Instagram, he shared a photo of himself holding the official documents from the deal, which was worth N20 million. At the time, Davido was only 17 years old and had released just two songs, making the deal a major milestone in his career.
In his post, the singer revealed that the first thing he did was pay his manager’s commission, which was his responsibility. Afterward, he treated himself to a brand-new Chevrolet Camaro, marking a symbol of success at such a young age. But the celebrations didn’t end there. Along with his cousin and fellow artist B-Red, Davido rented out an entire floor at Eko Hotel for a lavish, week-long party. The extravagant celebration drained most of the funds, but it was a reflection of the carefree exuberance that often accompanies early success.
Now, looking back on the experience, Davido’s story is a reminder of the youthful excitement and spontaneity that comes with achieving dreams at such a young age. It’s a part of his journey that shaped his early career in the entertainment industry.
He wrote:
“1st endorsement deal. MY FIRST 20M NAIRA. I PAY ASA HIM PERCENTAGE. FROM THERE I GO BUY CAMARO. FROM CAMARO NAH EKO HOTEL. ME AND @BREDHKN ONE WHOLE FLOOR ONE WEEK. MONEY FINISH.”
