Davido breaks silence after losing Grammy Award to South Africa’s Tyla

Superstar Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has broken his silence after losing Grammy Award to South Africa's Tyla.

Recall that 24-year-old Tyla defeated Davido, Burna Boy, and other nominees in the category to secure her second Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance.

The 2026 Grammy Awards took place on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, United States.

Tyla’s hit song Push 2 Start from her album Tyla beat other nominated tracks, including Ayra Starr and Wizkid’s Gimme Dat, Burna Boy’s Love, Davido and Omah Lay’s With You, and Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin’s Hope & Love.

Tyla winning the Best African Music Performance over Davido has been trailed with mixed as it does not sit down well with the likes of Cubana Chief Priest, VeryDarkMan, Peller, Trinity Guy and others.

However, Davido, the “Unavailable” hitmaker, has taken to his Instagram page today, February 2nd, 2026 to react.

Davido in the IG post flooded his Instagram page with new photos of himself with his wife Chioma, his elder sister, Sharon Adeleke, Asa Asika, his road manager, Lati DMW among others.

The DMW boss accompanied the video with the caption, “Oluwa Dey my side” meaning “God is by my side.”

The phrase “Oluwa dey my side” was culled from the song “Over Dem” off his Timeless album which was released in the year 2023.
