Dangote Cement Plc has reacted to the road accident in Auchi, Edo State, which involved one of its trucks and left Ruth Otabor, sister of reality TV star Phyna, seriously injured.
Naija News reports that the victim, who had graduated less than a week earlier, lost one leg to amputation and doctors fear she may lose the other.
Witnesses said the truck driver did not stop after the accident but was pursued and caught by a lecturer who saw what happened.
The truck’s license plate was said to have been removed, and the vehicle is now in police custody.
Reacting, the company, in a statement, said that senior officials, alongside its insurance team, visited the accident site, met with law enforcement, and checked on the victim and her family at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital.
The management confirmed that Mrs. Otabor will receive full medical care and compensation in line with the company’s welfare policy.
Dangote Cement also expressed concern for her condition and extended wishes for her recovery.
The company wrote: “Dangote Cement Plc has addressed the recent road accident in Auchi, Edo State, which involved one of its trucks and left Mrs. Ruth Otabor, sister of reality TV star Phyna, seriously injured.
