Burna Boy thanks UK fans as ‘I Told Them’ becomes No.1 album in UK

Amid the success of his latest album in the UK, Grammy-winning singer, Burna Boy, has penned an appreciation message to his fans in the European country.
On Friday, September 1, Burna became the first Afrobeats artiste to secure a UK No.1 chart position with “I Told Them.”

The Official Charts Company, which is in charge of creating official music charts in the UK, confirmed the accomplishment.
According to the Official Charts post, ‘Sittin’ on Top of the World! Burna Boy becomes first global Afrobeats star to secure UK Number 1 album with I Told Them…’

The 15-track project, which is Burna’s seventh studio album, released on 24 August via Spaceship/Atlantic features British-Nigerian rapper Dave, American rappers 21 Savage and J. Cole, and fellow Nigerian act Seyi Vibez and Jamaican singer Byron Messia.

Via his Insta story, Burna thanked his UK audience for helping his album achieve this feat, characterising it as yet another of his most improbable desires coming true.

The 32-year-old PH-born also promised to visit many parts of the UK during the week to portray the height of his gratitude.

Burna Boy stated: “To all my UK people who have taken this album to #1. I will never stop thanking you. You have made another one of my most impossible dreams come true.

“I will be going to as many parts of the UK this week to show my appreciation by signing as many albums as I possibly can and hold a little vibe wid y’all. I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH. THANK YOU.”

On the official UK albums chart, Burna Boy’s album “African Giant” debuted at No. 19 in 2019 and his follow-up project, “Twice As Tall” performed even better, reaching No. 11 in 2020. His previous album, ‘Love Damini’ held the No. 2 spot in 2022.
