INEC on February 26 announced the outcome of the presidential vote in Ekiti, a southwestern state, as the first to arrive in Abuja.

He is known to politically align with Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP).

Since the close of polls, results continue to trickle in with the major candidates winning in their strongholds.

Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) candidate is, however, pulling an upset in Lagos, where he is leading the ruling All Progressives Congress' Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Atiku Abubakar on the other hand, has won in Gombe and coasting to victory in his home state of Adamawa (both in the northeast). He has also been projected to win in Buhari's home state of Katsina.

Tinubu has won Ekiti, the only state officially verified by the elections body and Ondo, also located in the south-west, his traditional strongholds.
