Reports have indicated that late South African rapper, AKA who was killed in a drive-by shooting has already reconciled and ended his beef with Nigerian singer, Burna Boy.
Life before their industry beef
Things were once rosy between the pair. After Burna Boy released his first album, L.I.F.Eunder Aristokrat Records in 2013, he was major. As he kept making waves with singles like ‘Don Gorgon’ in 2014, he became an obsession in South Africa.
One of the first people to accept him was a rapper, AKA. For a moment, they were inseparable. At a point, Nigerians would even joke that Burna Boy had become South African.
How the beef started
The fallout began in 2019, after Burna Boy defended his country from xenophobic tweets and attacks that were occurring in South Africa at that time.
Burna Boy pledged in 2019 that he hadn’t stepped foot in SA since 2017, and won’t do so until the government tries to resolve the xenophobic attacks.
AKA also took steps to defend his country for being "accused of xenophobia"
“It was never about anything personal, I just don’t like people talking sh*t about my country,” he said. “It’s that simple you know, people were talking about there is a genocide in South Africa, the likes of Tiwa Savage and people talking about, they’re killing our people, it was bullsh*t, it was a cap,” the SA rap star said.
