The notorious six-man gang was apprehended with three truckloads of rustled cattle in Jibia.

Among the six suspects was an officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Abubakar Shafi’u.

The Nigerian police said it has arrested six suspected members of a notorious syndicate of cattle rustlers who are terrorising Katsina and Zamfara states.

Police made this known on Thursday, August 20, and moreover added that the gang was apprehended by a combined team of Customs and police operatives operating at Jibia thanks to credible intelligence.

Addressing pressmen on the arrest, the police public relations officer of Katsina state police command SP Gambo Isah said the suspects were busted with three trailer trucks loaded with 164 suspected rustled cows at Jibia local government area of Katsina.

He gave the name of the suspected cattle-rustlers as Muhammed Isah, Ibrahim Muhammed, Idris Muhammed, Alhaji Sa’idu Lawal and Usman Muhammad and Abubakar Shafi’u.

Isah said the Shafi’u is an inspector of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) from the procurement department at the headquarters i Abuja with service number 36702.

"It may interest you to know that the command has also succeeded in arresting one inspector Abubakar Shafi’u with service number 36702 who is from the procurement department of the immigration headquarters, Abuja.

"He was arrested while escorting these vehicles. An investigation is ongoing into this matter," the public relation officer said.

Isah noted that the cattle were loaded from Zurmi local government area of Zamfara state and that they were being taken to Potiskum in Yobe state when the notorious rustlers were nabbed.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng what could have turned out to be a tragedy was prevented on Monday, June 15, as an overly frustrated resident of Lagos state was prevented from jumping into the Third Mainland Bridge lagoon.

The man, whose identity was not revealed, was said to have made attempt to commit s'uicide on Monday afternoon after getting tired of life. He was, however, overpowered and rescued by the swift move of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command.
