The naira slid to its weakest level in two months on Friday, closing the week on a downward trajectory against the US dollar.
Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria showed the currency declined to N1,450.43 per dollar, compared to N1,447.83 on Thursday.
This means that the naira weakened further against the dollar by N2.59 on a day-to-day basis.
Meanwhile, at the black market, the naira ended the week at N1,475 per dollar on Friday, the same rate recorded since Wednesday.
The naira appreciated only on Tuesday in the week under review. On a week-on-week basis, the naira dropped by N3.68 when compared to the N1,446.74 exchanged last week, November 28, 2025.
The development comes as the country’s foreign exchange reserve rose to $45.04 billion as of December 4, 2025.
