Ibom Air wins ‘Best Airline of the Year’ award

After operating for four years, Ibom Air has become one of the top government-owned commercial airlines in Nigeria.

For the third consecutive year, the airline, which is owned by the Akwa Ibom State Government has won the best airline of the year award.

The great recognition was brought to light on Friday, April 19, 2024 by the African Travel Quarterly Travelers at an event at the National Museum in Lagos.

Attending the ceremony were notable people like the Minister of Tourism of Nigeria, Lola-Ade John, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Akwa Ibom State, Charles Udo, and other tourism commissioners from other states of the federation.

George Uriesi, the Chief Operating Officer of the airline who received the award expressed gratitude to customers for consistent patronage of the airline.

He said: “We are steadfast in our pledge to uphold the highest standards of safety, comfort, and convenience for our passengers.”

The airline also received a safety certification from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in 2023, an award that proves that the airline has high operational and safety standards.
