Air Peace kept mum as its Abuja–Asaba flight reportedly suffered an engine failure while preparing for take-off at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
A security expert, Zagazola Makama, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
According to him, the incident occurred shortly after the aircraft had gained speed and was almost closing in on the runway for take-off when a loud blast was heard, followed by flashes of light.
He said the pilot immediately aborted the take-off procedure and taxied the aircraft safely back to the terminal, where all passengers disembarked without incident.
Meanwhile, DAILY POST reports that Air Peace has not officially reacted to the alleged incident as of the time of filing this report.
This comes after a preliminary investigation by the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) indicted Air Peace pilots for testing positive following a runway excursion at the Port Harcourt International Airport on June 13, 2025.
