The Naira ended the week on Friday on a massive gain against the United States dollar as external reserves continued their uptrend.

The Central Bank of Nigeria’s data showed that the Naira appreciated to N1,455.17 per dollar on Friday, up from N1,466.65 traded on Thursday.

This means that at the official FX markets, the Naira strengthened significantly by N11.48 against the dollar on a day-to-day basis.

DAILY POST reports that Friday’s uptrend of Africa’s most populous nation’s currency is the highest in the week under review. The last time the Naira reached this first was last week Thursday, when it rose to N1,455.24.

Similarly at the black market, the Naira gained to N1,503 per dollar on Friday, up from N1,505 the previous day.

The development comes as the country’s external reserves have continued their rise to $42,58 billion as of 9th October 2025, up from $42.40 billion on 2nd October.
