Nigeria striker Akor Adams opened his Serie A account on Friday, scoring his first league goal for newly promoted Venezia against Fiorentina.

Adams needed just 22 minutes in his third league appearance to register his first goal in the Italian topflight, putting Venezia ahead with a well-taken finish.

The 26-year-old turned a perfectly weighted pass into the roof of the net from the edge of the box before wheeling away in celebration.

His joy was short-lived, however, as Franco Mastantuono responded with two quick goals for the visitors before half-time.

The goal added to an impressive start to life in Italy for Adams, who also made an instant impact in the Coppa Italia three weeks ago.

The Nigerian scored twice and provided an assist as Venezia defeated Modena 3-2 at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo.

Adams scored once in each half before helping create the winning goal as Venezia recovered from a 2-1 deficit to advance to the last 16.

The striker joined Venezia this summer after leaving Sevilla, becoming the club’s most expensive signing in their history.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Adams completed his medicals after arriving in the lagoon city before signing a four-year contract worth €1.5m per season.

Venezia reportedly paid €17m plus bonuses for the Nigerian, setting a new transfer record for the newly promoted Serie A side.
