Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman is a step away from winning his first silverware with Atletico Madrid following his side’s 3-0 loss to Barcelona in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final.
Diego Simeone’s side progressed to their first Copa del Rey final since the 2012/13 season despite losing by three goals to nil at the Spotify Camp Nou.
The Rojiblancos had earlier thrashed Hansi Flick’s side 4-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano in the first leg to qualify for the final 4-3 on aggregate.
Lookman, who joined Atletico in January from Atalanta, was in action for 58 minutes before he was substituted for Argentine international Nahuel Molina.
Barcelona youngster Marc Bernal scored a brace, with Raphinha adding another to give the Catalans a 3-0 victory, but it was not enough to guarantee them a place in the final.
Atletico Madrid will face either Real Sociedad or Athletic Bilbao, with Lookman eyeing what could be the first major trophy of his Atletico career.
