The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has celebrated William Troost-Ekong following the defender’s retirement from international football.
Troost-Ekong took to the social media on Thursday to announce his retirement from Super Eagles duty.
The 32-year-old served Nigeria for 10 years, making 83 appearances for the three-time African champions.
The centre-back was Player of the Tournament at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
He was also named in the team of the competition.
“Legends remain, in their time and long after it. William Troost-Ekong. It’s been a pleasure, captain,” CAF wrote on X.
