Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong has expressed the team's willingness to deliver Nigeria's fourth Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title ahead of the 2025 edition.
After losing the final 2-1 to Côte d’Ivoire in the last edition, Eric Chelle's side will be hoping to take the next step by clinching the title at the next edition in Morocco.
The three-time African champions will be heading to the 2025 AFCON as one of the favourites to win the title.
Troost-Ekong believes the experience garnered from the final defeat in the 2023 edition will be crucial for the team to deliver Nigeria's fourth AFCON title.
“That’s the only goal. We learned so much from the last AFCON final. Looking back, Côte d’Ivoire were the better team on the day, but we gained experience — some of our players were in a first major final for their nation,” Troost-Ekong told CAFOnline.
“Now the target is to get there again, use that experience, reach the latter stages and know what to do to go all the way, hopefully.”
