Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola shared a warm embrace and exchanged jokes with Samuel Chukwueze after his team's 5-4 win over Fulham FC.

In the game, the Nigerian winger produced a sensational performance off the bench in Fulham’s dramatic 5–4 loss to the Premier League champions at Craven Cottage.

Despite Chukwueze’s two late goals making the contest far more tense than City anticipated, Guardiola still took time after the final whistle to acknowledge the winger’s impact.

The Spaniard hugged the Super Eagles winger and was seen laughing and joking with him, even though Chukwueze’s brace nearly cost City the victory.

His gesture towards Chukwueze after the game shows his admiration for Nigerian’s talent and the damage he caused City’s defence in just one half of football.

Guardiola appeared relieved after the chaotic ending, with Manchester City forced to hang on desperately as Fulham pushed for an equaliser in stoppage time.

Chukwueze’s Performance For Fulham Nearly Stuns City

Chukwueze came on at halftime with Fulham trailing 3–1, and although City extended their lead to 5–1 early in the second half, the Nigerian immediately lifted the Cottagers’ level.

Alex Iwobi pulled one back with a composed finish before Chukwueze scored two superb goals six minutes apart—first lashing in a venomous volley into the bottom-left corner, then drilling another low effort through a crowd of bodies to make it 5–4.

His brace set up a frantic finale that left Guardiola pacing the touchline as Fulham piled forward in search of a leveller.

After the match, Chukwueze reflected on the chaos of the encounter:

“It was a crazy game today. We conceded goals we shouldn’t have conceded but I liked the spirit of the team.”

He added that the comeback attempt was fuelled by belief:

“For me, I always believe. If we don’t believe, we won’t score. Everybody believed that we could come back – the team, the coach and the fans.

Despite the defeat, the Nigerian international now has four goal involvements in his last three games and appears to be finding himself under Marco Silva.
