Manchester United joins the race to sign Paul Onuachu

Manchester United are said to be interested in Racing Genk striker Paul Onuachu this January.

The striker has been linked with a move to Aston Villa, Everton and West United in the past, but Jeunes Footeux reported that Manchester United have now joined the race to sign the forward.

Onuachu has been in great form the Wouter Vrancken’s man, scoring 15 goals in 18 appearances this season.

The 6ft 6in striker also has impressive 83 goals in 130 Genk games since arriving from Midtjylland in 2019.

Manchester United are said to be closing in on a move to sign Wout Weghorst and it is said that Onuachu might be the back-up for United but should the deal to sign Weghorst collapse.

However, Everton, West Ham and Villa are also pushing to sign the striker who has been capped 19 times by Nigeria.

The report states a fee between £17.5million and £21.5million could be enough to convince Genk to cash in this month.

However, sources Onuachu isn’t keen on joining United due to playing time as West Ham remains his preferred choice.

The Hammers like to play with striker who can hold the ball up, with Michail Antonio and Gianluca Scamacca, the only option available to David Moyes, although they do not have the height.
