Man. Utd. legend, Ferdinand, names his favorite Nigerian player

Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, has named his favorite Nigerian player in the English Premier League.

Speaking to Punch at the grand finale of the Guinness Night Football event held in Lagos on Friday, the former England star revealed his admiration for the Nigerian star who currently plies his trade in the PL.

Over the years, many Nigerian stars have played in the PL, leaving their names in the hearts of fans. The likes of J.J Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo, Celestine Babayaro, Yakubu Ayegbeni and Mikel Obi amongst others have made the mark for their respective clubs.

Ferdinand, who was a defender in his playing days, rather went for a striker as his best pick.

When asked who his favourite Nigerian in the PL so far is, he said, "Kelechi Iheanacho, because he scores goals man, he’s a goal scorer."

Ferdinand also recognized the impact of Wilfred Ndidi who has been influential for Leicester City since joining the club in 2017.

"I love him, big player Ndidi, he’s injured now but I love him, he’s a top player," Ferdinand added.

Both Nigerians currently play for Leicester City who are third on the PL table.

Iheanacho joined the foxed in 2017 from defending champion's Manchester City and has a total of 11 goals so far in all completions.

Ndidi, on the other hand, has been influential for Leicester since joining and he's currently third on the list of players with most tackles with 86.
