Turkish commentator Serhat Akın has urged Galatasaray striker Mauro Icardi to raise his game amid Victor Osimhen's rich vein of form for the club.

Osimhen, 26, has picked up from where he left off last season, firing on all cylinders for the Turkish champions.

According to Akın, Osimhen's remarkable goal-scoring form should serve as a wake-up call for the Argentine international, who was Galatasaray's go-to man prior to Osimhen's arrival.

The football expert added that the fans could lose their love for the former PSG striker should he fail to match Osimhen's form.

“There’s a game between Osimhen and Icardi. These two players are very different,” Akın said, as quoted by Habersarikirmizi.

“Osimhen is a fantastic centre-forward. He takes things to a whole new level. If Icardi doesn’t get his act together quickly, if this situation drags on a bit, I think this love will end, like all loves.

“Galatasaray fans love him, and the kids in Türkiye love him, but this love could end too.

“He needs to get his act together quickly, because Osimhen has set the bar very high.”
