Bordeaux grind out win, Josh Maja fires blank

Josh Maja’s goalscoring form has taken a dip in recent weeks, and the drought has seen the Forward now go on a five-game stretch.

The Forward has also lost his place in Bordeaux’s starting XI, as David Guion will prioritize the team’s promotion over compassion.

In his 24 appearances so far this season, the Forward has scored 11 goals and picked up 3 assists.

However, Maja does get game time off the bench, on Saturday, the 24-year-old was a 81st-minute substitute as Bordeaux saw out a narrow 2-1 home win over Paris FC.

First-half goals from Malcom Bokele (24′) and Yoann Barbet (32′) handed Les Girondins a healthy advantage. But the visitors pulled one back in the 72nd minute through Julien Lopez, but the outcome was certain.

Another three points for the promotion chasers whose form has been inconsistent since the new year.

Regardless, Bordeaux sit second on the Ligue 2 table with 42 points, 9 points behind league leaders Le Havre after 22 rounds of matches.
