The Presidential Spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Felix Morka, has asserted that President Bola Tinubu’s performance and campaign pledges should be comprehensively evaluated at the conclusion of an eight-year tenure.

Speaking during an interview on ARISE News on Tuesday, Morka addressed growing public scrutiny regarding the administration's progress on key 2023 campaign promises, including efforts to tackle poverty, reduce hunger, and stimulate broader economic growth.

Morka argued that broad development objectives are matters of "progressive realisation" rather than instantaneous outcomes. He emphasized that the president never committed to eradicating poverty within the initial months or first few years in office.

"The president never told you that in the first month or 100 days of my government or in the first two years or three years, I’m going to eradicate poverty," Morka stated. "So, you know, let’s frame this in proper perspective."

Citing the constitutional provision that allows an elected president to seek a second four-year term, Morka explained that the first term is vital for profiling national challenges and establishing policy direction, while a second term offers the necessary runway to build upon those foundational efforts.

Responding to demands for strict timelines regarding job creation and industrial development initiatives, Morka challenged the push for immediate benchmarks, maintaining that the electorate can fairly judge the administration's overall impact only after a full eight-year mandate is completed.

"The timeline actually for the president to finish the job he has started... is why he’s asking for another term of four years. At the end of eight years, you can come here and have this conversation," he concluded.
