The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and Coordinating Director of Media and Strategic Communications for the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Lanre Issa-Onilu, has called on Nigerians to reevaluate their daily habits and embrace lifestyle adjustments to cope with current economic realities.
Speaking during a discussion, Issa-Onilu drew attention to widespread domestic energy waste, noting that many citizens routinely leave electrical appliances running in empty homes while away at work.
Highlighting these habits, he stated:"You don't go to anybody's house as we speak, who has gone to work, and you see the AC working, or you see the light on. Go to many homes in this country, we do that. So we also must manage our lifestyle. It's part of our responsibility."
The NOA boss emphasized that personal accountability plays a crucial role in navigating present-day challenges, urging citizens to take a introspective look at their daily consumption patterns.
"Now people must now understand that you have a responsibility to look at yourself and say how do I adjust?" he added.
Addressing potential pushback regarding the hardship of making lifestyle changes, Issa-Onilu clarified that cutting back on excess is a matter of prudent management rather than hardship.
"Adjustment is not suffering. Adjustment is living within your means," he concluded.
