The Imo State Police Command has said that its officers were not the ones captured in a viral video assaulting a young woman and her brother at Okigwe, who were reportedly en route to Abia State University.

The Command clarified that the armed men seen in the video are personnel of the Imo State Vigilante Organization.

It said the individuals, identified as Ejiogu Nchekwube and Caleb Onyebuchi, have been arrested and are currently detained at the Okigwe Divisional Police Headquarters, while investigation into the incident continues.

The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Audu Garba Bosso, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to professionalism, accountability, and respect for the rights of members of the public. He assured that anyone found culpable will face appropriate action in accordance with the law.

The Command urged the public to remain calm and refrain from circulating unverified information, while relying on official channels for verified updates.
