A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has blamed the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) after his Facebook page got blocked by Meta.
MyNigeria noticed that his page, where he usually posts content admonishing his Igbo kinsmen, had been missing from Facebook.
This platform recalled that one of the last posts on the page had Igbokwe celebrating the life imprisonment sentence handed to IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Kanu was jailed for terrorism charges tabled by the Department of State Services (DSS), a development celebrated by Igbokwe, who had accused IPOB of burning down his country home in Abia State.
Igbokwe's celebratory post must have angered Kanu's supporters, who in turn allegedly mass-reported his Facebook page to Meta, leading to its disappearance.
When MyNigeria reached out to him about the page, he said, "It's on hold. They have not released it to me. I've not made a comment for over a week now. It was blocked."
When asked if the situation had anything to do with Kanu and his IPOB supporters, Igbokwe said, "Yes, that was what happened. It's those boys, those Biafraud staff that reported me. I've been waiting for it to be reopened."
He said that after the page got blocked due to their actions, rumours started circulating that his absence on social media was because he had been kidnapped.
"That was when they took the rumour and published it that I had been kidnapped. Because nobody had seen me on my page for over a week now, they said I had been kidnapped along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. All of them are lies," he said.
Effort to reach IPOB proved abortive as of the time of filing this report.
