Reno, your explanation was purely incorrect, kindly go back to the history. Lt.col Ojukwu was then the governor of the old Eastern region. And late chief Awo. was still in prison at calabar will general Gowon was the head of state. Chief Awolowo was facing tresonable offence he was not yet tried till after the Aburi accord was failed to been implimented by Gen. Gowon and the tension was higher. Northerns were agitating with their slogan Araba, araba . then Ojukwu decided to released Chief Awo who was the influential figure of the western people to go and start prepareing for their nation. He was released by Ojukwu not Gowon please.

This lies has been on for decades even before kanu radio Biafra broadcast, some of us even believed it at some point but with the dates clearly stated by Reno it's now clear to anyone that ojukwu was not the one who released chief obafemi Awolowo. Going by military traditions and rules, ojukwu can't order his release without the consent and approval of the commander in chief who is Gowon at that very date and time. Thanks Reno.
