Some residents of Rivers State believe that Governor Siminalayi Fubara is currently experiencing sleepless nights due to the political challenges plaguing the state.
These individuals shared their opinions moments after the Federal High Court in Abuja, on Wednesday, restrained the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from further releasing monthly financial allocations to the Rivers government.
One of them who spoke said that the news would affect Fubara during his attempts to satisfy his wife sexually.
He said: "I speak with you as a man, Fubara is not sleeping well. Fubara, as he is right now, cannot even make love with his wife because his mind is not settled. It only takes a settled mind to make love with your wife. If you don't know, it's because of what happened yesterday."
The order also affected the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Zenith Bank, and Access Bank where the state government also banks.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, in a judgment, held that the receipt and disbursement of monthly allocations since January 2024 by Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers is a constitutional somersault and aberration that must not be allowed to continue.
Justice Abdulmalik held that the presentation of the 2024 Budget by Fubara before a 4-member Rivers House of Assembly was an affront to the constitutional provision.
Meanwhile, Fubara stated that Wednesday’s Abuja Federal Court judgment was the least of his troubles as it would not stop him from administering the state.
During a special thanksgiving ceremony to commemorate his administration’s resilience amidst an escalating political crisis that began a year ago with an arson attack on the Rivers State House of Assembly complex, Governor Siminalayi Fubara expressed his determination to forge ahead.
He said that despite the court order, his administration will continue to fulfill payments to contractors and ensure that workers receive their salaries starting from October 31.
