Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi (rtd), the Former Chief of Defence Staff in the Fourth Republic is dead.
His death was announced by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau in a statement on Sunday, June 30.
The Leadership reports he died in the early hours of Sunday, June 30 in Abuja.
The statement read: “With deep sorrow, I announced the death of Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi (rtd), a former Chief of Defence Staff (1999-2003). He passed on in Abuja in the early hours of today.”
A family source disclosed that Ogohi had been suffering from "old age sickness" before his unfortunate demise.
The late Ogohi was the first naval officer to be crowned four stars in the Nigerian military and the chief of defense staff from the navy.
Admiral Ogohi is from Okura, Lafia, in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State and served as the chief of defense staff from 1999 to 2003 under the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
