The Labour Party's presidential candidate Peter Obi has apologised and sympatized with his party supporters who were abused on Saturday, March 18, during the governorship and house of assembly elections.

The election witnessed a lot of violence in some cities and polling units, notably in Lagos State.

While there was involvement of other parties in the violence, photos and videos proved that Obi's supporters in Lagos suffered the most damage.

The Labour Party gubernatorial candidate for Lagos, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour disclosed that an agent of the party was shot and killed during the election.

Peter Obi in several posts he shared on his Twitter page, commiserated with the victims.

He wrote: "With sadness, my heart goes deeply to the Nigerians who lost their lives and those who were maimed for participating in such a simple thing as an election. My prayers and wishes for a quick recovery of the injured.

"My sincere condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. May God Almighty grant them eternal rest, and grant their families the fortitude to bear their sad irreplaceable loss.

"I pray earnestly that God Almighty will save and help Nigeria out of this precarious situation.-PO"
