Nigerians slam Dokpesi over comment on COVID-19, malaria

Raymond Dokpesi Raymond Dokpesi

Nigerians have slammed the founder of DAAR Communications, Raymond Dokpesi after he expressed his confusion about COVID-19 and malaria.

Recall that Dokpesi announced his recovery after he was tested positive for COVID-19 and isolated in Gwagwalada, Abuja.

Addressing newsmen after he was discharged, Dokpesi expressed doubts about the diagnosis of COVID-19 in Nigeria.

He said: “I still have doubts in my mind and I need to be educated. What’s the difference between COVID-19 and malaria? Every drug we were given were malaria medications.

“A number of persons who tested positive were checked in reputable labs, hospitals in Abuja and were found to have malaria parasites in their bloodstreams. When did malaria become synonymous with COVID-19?”

The video which shows him addressing newsmen has now gone viral with reactions from Nigerians as seen below.

@Melanin_2020: Malaria, really? Yet over 70,000 have died in the USA? So Abba Kyari died from malaria? Do we then say that even America cannot treat malaria? Dokpesi is going political again. Sometimes, there is a virtue in keeping silent.

@MrKunleRoy_: I want to blame the @NCDCgov for testing and treating @RaymondDokpesi. He should've been left alone to test and treat himself. Raymond Dokpesi is the definition of the many wrongs of our elites. Such a shame! Up next is your corruption trial.

@bolsaid: This is shameful, to say the least, and it's a slap on the faces of all the frontliners

@Osenimohammed: Is this kind of another joke or politics from this old man? Why didn't he think he was infected with malaria before he was admitted to the isolation centre? Some people will never change if given a second life to right their wrong.

@JonesNne: Why do some of our elders talk like this? So it is malaria that has killed about 87k people in the US and about 300k all over the world!
